love this version much better, because I found a way for the twists to be much more secure than my previous Triple Twist Ponytail.
Since the girls are very active in dance, tumbling, and cheer, they are always looking for tighter hairstyles that will keep their hair out of their faces. {I am sure many other girls and moms are looking for the same thing!}

We are calling this the Chain Link Braid, simply because of the way you twist the hair… which makes it seriously look like the sequential links in a thick chain!
The twins’ friends have been wondering how to make this braid, so we thought we’d film a tutorial using our triple flip-unders as accents.

This braid is perfect for any active sports, such as cheer, dance, gymnastics, volleyball, softball, etc, or for simple casual wear. The style is also unbelievably easy to create once you learn the twisting patterns!

Items Needed: Brush, rat-tail comb, spray bottle, 1 ponytail holder, 1 small hair elastic, hairspray and accessory {if desired}.
Time Requirement: 3-5 minutes
Skill Level: Easy
Step-by-Step Instructions:
I began with triple flipunders as a base accent, in the front of the head…
Pull all hair into a high ponytail, and secure with an ponytail holder.
Separate the ponytail into two equal sections…
Clip one of the sections out of the way for now…
Using the unclipped section, divide it into two equal strands…
Twist both stands to the right…
Now, twist them together going to the left {this creates a rope twist, which ensure that the rope braid will not unravel when you are done}…
Continue rope twisting the braid, until you reach the end and secure with an elastic or have your daughter hold the twist…
Next, unclip the rest of the ponytail that you had set aside previously…
Again, separate it into two equal sections, twist them both to the right, and then twist them together to the left…
Complete this process on the second section until you reach the end…
Once you have the two twists completed, now twist them together going to the right {this is what causes the twists to spiral around each other, with the twisting causing the strands to interlock, create the chain link look you are going for}…
Add hairspray or accessory .
